Camp Takes Place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 10th annual Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp, which features many of the top U.S. goaltenders eligible for international play within select age groups, opens today in Plymouth, Michigan. The camp is named after the late Warren Strelow, a former National Hockey League goalie coach who served in that same capacity for the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team.

The elite four-day camp will cover both physical and mental aspects of goaltending, helping each of the 30 invitees master the fundamentals of the position while developing a personal identity that translates to in-game success.

The camp will be led by Kevin Reiter, Warren Strelow mentor and U.S. National Team goaltending coach; Phil Osaer, manager of youth goaltending at USA Hockey and regional mentors Brennan Poderzay and Jared Waimon. In addition, assistant mentors Joe Exter (Assistant Coach, Michigan State University), Bob Janosz (Goaltending Coach, Rochester Americans), David Lassonde (Assistant Coach, Dartmouth University), Matt Millar (Assistant Coach, Dubuque Fighting Saints), and Nick Petraglia (Assistant Coach, Miami University of Ohio) will be on hand for instruction. Guest instructors include Peter Aubry, developmental goaltending coach for the Chicago Blackhawks; Shane Clifford, former NHL goaltender coach and current junior goalie coach for four teams; Scott Clemmensen, developmental goaltending coach with the New Jersey Devils; Kris Mayotte, assistant coach with Providence College and goaltending coach for the U.S. National Junior Team; Jeff Salajko, goaltending coach with the Detroit Red Wings; Chris Terreri, goaltending coach with the New Jersey Devils; John Vanbiesbrouck, former NHL and Olympic goaltender; and Alex Westlund, goaltending coach with the Augsburg Panthers and Medvescak Zagreb. Former USA Hockey National Team Development Program and Cornell University goaltender Andy Isles will be on-site as the camp alumnus coach. Zach Cisek, volunteer coach at Miami University of Ohio, will serve as the camps video coordinator.

NOTES: Four goalies are from the 1998-birth class while 10 goaltenders on the camp roster are from the 1999-birth class. The 2000 and 2001-birth classes have eight goaltenders each … Fifteen states are represented on the roster. Michigan, Minnesota and New York lead the way with four goaltenders each.
